Outdoor art gallery in the backalleys of Singapore’s Kampong Glam opens to visitors

September 18, 2019

The Gelam Gallery located in the back lanes of Kampong Gelam  (also known as Kampong Glam) is now open to visitors. Its walls feature framed artworks and murals by a mix of 30 established international artists such as Singapore, Malaysia, China, Myanmar, France and the UK as well as graduates from LaSALLE College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and also some self-taught artists from various professional backgrounds. Each art piece comes with a description of the artwork and the artist’s bio.

Located along Muscat Street, the back lanes were converted from a dirty bin storage area to a cool outdoor gallery for art lovers.

The project is spearheaded by Color Inc Pte Ltd, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board and One Kampong Gelam.

Visitors can sign up for the free heritage and art walk tours. In addition, a Gelam Gallery contest will be held where members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite walls. The top three artists with the highest vote will be awarded cash prizes and the participants in the voting contest will be automatically entered into a lucky draw.
