Foster + Partners’ Amravati masterplan project in Southern India scrapped

Five years in the making, the Amravati Project in the Southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has been terminated by the local government due to lack of funds. The 217-square-kilometre city masterplanned by Foster + Partners and located along the banks of the River Krishna, which was to house the new government complex, was to be built in collaboration with Singapore’s Surbana Jurong.
