Back in 2019, DesignSingapore Council (DSg) – the city-state’s official agency that supports and nurtures homegrown creative enterprises by providing them with the resources and ecosystem to launch their ventures and scale-up – unveiled the inaugural Business of Design (BOD) programme. It is aimed at growing the export value of Singapore designs by building mindshare in both business-to-business and business-to-consumer markets in Asia. The programme offers a much-needed stimulus to help Singapore-based design entrepreneurs get added support to grow their brands globally and to augment the Singapore Design Brand.
Now, DSg has launched the second iteration of the BOD Programme with an open call that aims to generate new business opportunities for up to eight established Singapore-based furniture, lifestyle product and multi-disciplinary design studios and design-driven furniture and lifestyle brands with the potential to get a foothold in international markets such as Europe and Asia (including Japan and Southeast Asia).
The BOD programme will connect design studios and brands to the global marketplace through in-market consultants who will guide them in their pitch to secure business opportunities, connect them to business circles, and provide mentorship; strengthen the brand strategy and narrative of individual design studios and brands, and facilitate stronger recall by enforcing quality perception of the design studio and brand; and promote a set of distinct Singapore design brand values through themed collective showcases involving supported design studios and their partner manufacturers, at appropriate international platforms.
Applicant must be a Singapore-registered design enterprise – with the lead applicant being a Singaporean or Permanent Resident – from the fields of furniture and lifestyle product design; multi-disciplinary design that incorporates furniture and lifestyle product design; and design-driven furniture and/or lifestyle product brand owners
The deadline for the submission of forms is April 22, 2021 (23:59) Find out more details here:
