Karl Lagerfeld designs helmet for Ruby

There’s nothing Karl Lagerfeld can’t do or so it seems. Now he has teamed up with Les Ateliers Ruby for the fourth installment of their limited-edition helmet series.

Following Maison Martin Margiela’s artistic interpretation of the headgear, Lagerfeld has giving the protective headgear an ultra-luxe makeover. First appearing on Lagerfeld’s runway for fall, multiple versions are finally hitting stores, including a feminine version of the helmet in black and white tweed (a subtle nod to Chanel) and a couture-inspired one embroidered in pearls. But the most outrageously luxurious version has to be the one covered in lustrous black mink—part urban barbarian a la Kublai Khan, part futurist fashionista a la Lady Gaga.

Available for €1200 - €4545 at Colette and select retailers in December. With only 12 pieces being made, and so distinctly fashionable,  you won’t be worrying about helmet hair with this one.
