David Ashen designs RocPopShop for Jay Z’s Rocawear label
For hip-hop stars, fashions seems like a natural progression. Sean P. Diddy has already won over a number of fans with his stylish Sean Combs label. Now it’s Shawn ‘Jay Z’ Carter, the better half of Beyoncé Knowles who has launched his new premium line of apparel for Rocawear.
Jay Z has roped in David Ashen of the renowned New York-based architecture firm D-ASH Design to create RocPopShop– a pop up shop and lifestyle experience designed to embody Jay Z’s new venture. The RocPopShop, a 50-foot long trailer that expands to 1000 square feet when opened up, was designed in collaboration with Jay Z, to be an upscale mobile lounge which reflects his aesthetic.
Merchandise is displayed in large custom travel trunks covered in stamped patent leather, and lined in suede. Mohair sofas, suede walls, custom zebra wood cabinetry, a 46-inch flat screen TV and stereo system, and a custom gaming zone, transport the customer into the Jay Z and Rocawear lifestyle.
