Must read: The Women by T.C. Boyle featuring the women in Frank Lloyd Wright’s life
One of the most revered and controversial architects of all time Frank Lloyd Wright, the architect of the iconic The Fallignwater, is once again at the centre of a book– The Women by PEN/Faulkner award-winning American author T. Coraghessan Boyle.
Frank Lloyd Wright
The part-fiction, part history, book deals with topics, not entirely unfamiliar but largely intriguing relationships of Wright throughout his life. Wright’s various relationships played a significant role in his rise as one of the most well-known architects of 20th century. The fact that the author himself resides in a house designed in California by Wright quite early on in his career, gives the book an almost ‘real’ feel.
To the followers of Wright philosophy, the novel might come across as a twisted even if pretty believable account of the life of a genius who to this day either evokes love (we do!) or loathe. To the rest, it’s just a passionate story about passionate women who happened to love a famous, eccentric architect.
Our verdict: Highly recommended.
